My wife and I have a 1.5 hour connection at FRA (both flights on Mileage tickets business class) as follows:

LH455 SAN FRANCISCO, CA (SFO) 2:55 PM - FRANKFURT, GERMANY (FRA) 10:45 AM (+1) This is A380
LH1216 FRANKFURT, GERMANY (FRA) 12:15 PM - GENEVA, SWITZERLAND (GVA) 1:20 PM

My wife walks slowly. Will we be able to make the connection?
I saw previous posts mentioning gate information, such as Area A, Z, etc. I do not have that information (Where can I get it?)

Thanks for any help.,

If your flights are on time, you will have no problems. Z concourse is located above A, from where your GVA flight will depart. I am assuming you are on one ticket...

Thanks. Yes we are on one ticket.
How do you know we will arrive on A and depart on Z?
Do we have to go through security?

Most of the time you should arrive at a Z gate and depart from A,

the Z gates are just above the A gates. So, arriving Z, you clear immigration and take stairs/elevator one floor down and walk to your GVA gate.

Problem is, Z/A is a quite big gate wing and if you have to walk from one end to the other, it’ll take some time. For normal walking speed, I’d budget 30 minutes. So, 1,5hrs shouldn’t be a problem.

Bit no idea how easy this would be for your wife...

if your wife is kind of disabled, you might want to organize a ride on the e-cars for gate transfer or wheelchair service?

Or is there a security checkpoint along the way?

Z is on top of A. Very simple to get between the two (elevator leading to passport check). You don't mention from/to so a bit hard to say, but how do you know what gates you will arrive at/depart from, as these are assigned on the day, shortly before the aircraft rocks up?

You won't. Your GVA flight will depart from A (almost certainly).

Z are the non-Schengen gates LH uses for US (and some other countries) flights, A gates for most intra-Schengen gates.

no security, only passport control/immigration

Thank you. She is not disabled but she is just recovered from a procedure, and just started walking without a cane - but real slow. She can walk at normal speed with a cane.. How do we organize e-cars for gate transfer?

To request assistance at FRA contact Lufthansa at least 48 hours before travel.

Then I would recommend bring a cane. Then you should be fine. It is not a terrible walk most of the time, and they have people movers on the long corridors. With 1,5hrs you should be fine. I guess you need 20 minutes from landing to clear passport control and 20 minutes from arriving in A-gates to your departure gate if walking real slow. Then add 20 minutes waiting to clear immigration (which can be 2 minutes or 2 hours.... like in the US. Most of the time it is rather short, LH455 arrives around 11am which usually is not that busy according to my experience) and you should be at the GVA gate right on time, probable even with 15 minutes to spare if LH455 arrives a bit early. Wouldn't worry too much.

Other option is to call LH (maybe you need to talk to UA) for PRM service, need to be done 48 hours before departure though:
https://www.fracareservices.com/english/

There is also a private service from LH (https://www.lufthansa.com/us/en/lufthansa-guide-service) and Fraport (the airport operator, https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en...l#gate-to-gate) but you have to pay for it. Booked for my grandparents once LH and once Fraport service and I had quite good experiences with the Fraport service, not so much for the LH service (they did not bring a e-car but just walked the group...).

Should you miss your connection, next flight (I guess you are booked on LH1216 departing 12:15?) to GVA is LX1083 at 13:05 or LH1222 at 16:10.

I looked at those flights for yesterday and today. They arrive at Z gates and depart at A gates. Those concourses are on top of each other, do your gates should be fairly close.
Not sure how immigration works, though.

Here is a map showing A and Z piers at FRA. The map only shows A gates but Z gates are immediately above A gates with the same gate number between A/Z13-25 and A/Z50-69. In fact they are the same gate positions approached on different levels. From Z gates to A gates you have to go to the central atrium (marked with a red X on the map) to clear passport control/immigration. There is also a passport control checkpoint near A/Z25 at least part of the day but the flight from SFO is likely to arrive at a higher Z gate (Z50-69).

The distance between Z69 and the central atrium is approx. 800m (1/2 mile). From the central atrium to the furthest gate (A40) is longer. So you could be walking up to a mile or longer between the arrival and departure gates although there are moving walkways at least part of the way. The actual distance you need to walk depends on the arrival and departure gates on the day.

They are not on the map because they are on the level below A gates (tarmac level). ASW (A Schengen West) is marked with a yellow X on the map below. (ANSW or A non-Schengen West is marked with a blue X. It may be referred to simply as ANS.)

AEUW is a bus arrival gate for “clean” non-Schengen passengers (mostly used for arrivals from the US and occasionally from the UK) and is actually A8/9 bus gate area which was previously used for Schengen departures. AEUW is opposite ASW and ANSW.

ANSW arrivals are not clean though many arrivals from the UK use ANSW rather than AEUW. Connecting in Frankfurt [FRA] 2009-2023 (retired) - FlyerTalk Forums (35)
