Appearance[]

The Daycare Attendant features a crescent moon shaped head, with half of it colored black to fill in the missing portion. His face has a large nose and a large grin, coupled with its two red glowing eyes, one of which is above the tip of its nose. His hands are the same white color with dark blue fingernails. It wears two leather wristbands with ribbons coming off them, and a blue night cap and baggy pants covered in stars. In its Sun appearance, it's colored almost entirely out of various shades of yellow. His pants are now yellow and covered in brown stripes, and it has large yellow triangles protruding out from its head to emulate that of a sun.

RUIN DLC[]

In the Security Breach: RUIN DLC, Daycare Attendant has been damaged badly, with his pants torn and bits of his arms cracked and broken. His hands have broken open, revealing his endoskeleton, and his face is cracked down the middle, revealing a large endoskeleton mouth and teeth behind his mask. As well as this, the sun-rays coming out of his head are also cracked, with some of the top ones notably missing. Daycare Attendant's left leg is also heavily damaged, revealing the endoskeleton and metal-frame on his shin, while his foot is entirely missing. Finally, due to their broken appearance, both Sun and Moon are controlling the body now, with part of Moon's pants, hat, left arm and left eye being present, while Sun's face, sun-rays, right arm, lower right leg, right eye and possibly his torso being present. It is currently unclear on if this is purely an aesthetic change or not. These parts occasionally change to one specific character depending on who's talking, but some parts like Sun's sun-rays and their left pant leg remain consistent across all forms.

Gameplay[]

Security Breach[]

Sun[]

When first arriving at the Daycare, Sun drops down into the ballpit before scooping up Gregory and taking him to a sitting area. Sun expresses multiple games it'd like to play with Gregory as well as informing him that the only rule is that the lights must stay on. The player cannot leave the area Sun brought them to, as Sun will instantly pick them back up and carry them to that same spot. To get away from Sun, the player can knock over a stack of objects causing Sun to freak out and begin cleaning them up. If the player hides in an area Sun can't get to, it'll stand in place with its face in its palms.

Once the lights are turned off, Sun will yell at the player before turning into Moon. After the lights are back on, Sun will call Gregory a rule breaker and ban him from the Daycare, and alerting animatronics to the player. Whenever the player attempts to re-enter the daycare through the slide, Sun will stop him and repeat the security alert.

Moon[]

Moon when first encountered will roam around the daycare searching for Gregory to "punish him". It'll walk around aimlessly and crawl through the various tunnels and slides until spotting and following Gregory to kill him. It can also be distracted by the same stack of objects that Sun can be distracted with. After being banned from the Daycare, Moon appears at the end of every hour and will spontaneously appear in multiple places, dancing if the player's in Freddy or following if the player is outside of Freddy. It'll go away once the player makes it to a recharge station. Moon at the end of the 3am hour will take Freddy away where the player eventually finds him in the parts and service chamber.

RUIN[]

When first encountered in the Daycare, Moon attempts to punish Cassie for being awake before being scared off by her flashlight. Moments later, Sun gets ahold of her and begs Cassie to turn on the generators and reboot him so that the two can be whole. As Cassie turns on the generators, Daycare Attendant stands in the middle of the play structure, with Moon getting progressively angrier each time a generator is turned on. Once all the spotlights are on and pointing at him, Cassie is able to walk right up to the animatronic and reboot him, allowing the Eclipse personality to wake up and safely carry Cassie out of the Daycare, stating that they need to clean up and prepare for all the kids flooding in the next day. After shutting Cassie out of the Daycare, Sun shakily thanks her. While they don't actively hunt the player during their section, approaching Eclipse before both generators are active will cause Moon to kill the player.

Help Wanted 2[]

Arts & Crafts[]

In Arts & Crafts: Daycare, Sun acts as the primary antagonist of the level. Within the level, Sun will have the player do various art activities, starting out with a paint-by-numbers activity, followed by making a paper pal, and finished off with a combination of the two. To successfully complete each craft, the player must match the drawing/paper pal shown on the monitor to their right. The player is given a dart gun to shoot at the shelves behind Sun, in which they'll obtain whichever tools or paper pals part they need. Each time the player successfully completes an art craft, Sun will compliment the work before shredding it and moving onto the next.

Each craft has a hidden time-limit to the player, and taking too long will result in Sun getting angry and jumpscaring the player. Failing to do the work properly will also anger Sun, having him force the player to restart the minigame. However, in the final craft, the player is tasked with completing the paper pal in the dark while avoiding Moon. Once the final craft is completed, the minigame will end.

In the Hardmode variant of the level, Arts & Crafts: Loft, the player finds Ruined Sun cowering in the corner. The level has the same general setup, however after completing the first craft, Ruined Moon will become active, and the player must fend him off with the flashlight.

Bonnie Bowl[]

The Daycare Attendant (5)

In the Bonnie Bowl minigame, Moon appears as one of three possible hazards within the minigame. When he spawns, the right screen above the player will display his face before he suddenly appears within the hole in the roof. The player must use the flashlight to get rid of him, or else they'll be jumpscared.

Carousel[]

In the minigame Carousel, Moon acts as the primary antagonist. Throughout the minigame, Moon will creep towards the player, laughing each time he appears. To keep him at bay, the player must shine the flashlight on his face until he falls over. With each part of the carousel that's reactivated during the game, Moon becomes more aggressive, appearing more frequently and occasionally hopping onto moving parts of the carousel to make getting rid of him harder. If the player fails to ward him off quickly enough, he will jumpscare them.

In the hardmode variant of the level, Cinder Carousel, Moon is replaced by his new variant, Jack-O-Moon.

Personality[]

The Daycare Attendant has a split-personality between its two forms, with Sun being very playful yet also very paranoid of getting in trouble and the lights going off. Moon on the other hand is very menacing and mischievous, seemingly having fun in tormenting Gregory, going as far as to dance the whole time it hunts Gregory. Some personality traits are carried between both forms, like their more childish way of speaking, like repeating certain phrases over and over, and their cleanliness, as seen by using the distraction in the Daycare.

During the RUIN DLC, when the Daycare Attendant is encountered, it appears the two personalities are fighting for control over their body, with Sun only momentarily being able to prevent Moon from coming out due to the lack of light. When they're rebooted, the animatronic becomes a third personality, Eclipse. Eclipse's personality is a drastic shift from both Sun and Moon however, being very calm and soft-spoken. He's also shown to have Sun's very caring nature, immediately identifying that Cassie is in danger and getting her to safety and out of the Daycare.

Trivia[]

General Trivia[]

  • While their gender remains unspecified in-game, it is likely that the two characters are male given their file names and characters within the Somniphobia story referring to Moon as a male.
    • Despite the individual characters likely being male, Daycare Attendant (or more specifically, Eclipse) is commonly referred to with they/them pronouns, potentially due to the multiple personalities within the animatronic.
  • After being banned from the Daycare, Sun is absent from the remainder of the game unless the player attempts to re-enter the daycare, in which Sun will crawl up the slide and prevent them from entering.
  • There is a random bug that when Sun cleans up, Moon's voice is heard instead.
  • Messages throughout the game suggest that both forms scare children, with children not wanting to sleep without the lights on but also being too scared to fall asleep at all. This is likely a biproduct of Moon's menacing tendencies to want to "punish children" for being up past their bedtimes, and Sun's overly paranoid tendencies.
    • Though it could also be due to their appearance, with Gregory constantly describing Moon to be creepy.
  • There is a unique glitch where if the player can somehow re-enter the Daycare after obtaining the Faz-Cam, flashing Sun with it will cause it to kill the player.
    • During Sun's jumpscare, since it uses Moon's animation, its sun rays aren't visible, as they are tucked away.
    • Since the Faz-Cam is acquired after the player is banned from the Daycare, it is not possible to achieve this without exploits.
  • In the third Tales from the Pizzaplex book, it's titular story, Somniphobia, features Moon as the main antagonist. However in the book, it is referred to by its previously popular fan-name, Moondrop.[1]
    • This could be due to the first few books being written before the game released, leading to the writers not knowing the character's real name, or it could be that "Moondrop" was intended to be a secondary name for the character.
  • The Daycare Attendant acts quite similarly to Funtime Freddy, both acting very playful despite their true nature. This could be due to them sharing the same voice actor.

Security Breach Pre-Release Trivia[]

  • The Daycare Attendant is the first character to be revealed outside of the initial 6 revealed through teasers and merch.
    • They were also the first animatronic in the game to be shown to have a more antagonistic nature, rather than the Glamrocks' previously more friendly natures seen in the teasers and merchandise.
  • Sun was actually first teased in Security Breach's first trailer, via its "Sunnydrop" candy poster.
    • Sun's decal was also seen in the window of Glamrock Gifts in the Nvidia Tech Demo.
  • Sun and Moon before the game's release were commonly called by fans "Moondrop" and "Sunrise", with Sun later being called "Sunnydrop" (and simply just "Sundrop"). This was a result of many fans believing that the duo were named after the candies they advertised, which was later revealed to be false.
    • The names stuck however, as in the Tales books and other official media, Moon would commonly be referred to as "Moondrop".
      • This makes Moon, and by extension Sun, the technical fourth character to be named by fans, with the first three being Golden Freddy, Shadow Bonnie and Scraptrap.
  • Due to the way their section is handled in-game, Daycare Attendant does not attack the player a single time in the RUIN DLC.
    • Moon can still kill the player however, as going up to them before turning on all the generators results in a jumpscare.
  • Because Sun is only viewable when the Security Mask is on, he'll yell at Cassie to reboot the "other me" if the player approaches while wearing the mask.
  • Eclipse exclaiming "Happy Birthday" after being rebooted is a likely reference to the 1969 Christmas Short, Frosty the Snowman, in which the titular Frosty shouts the same phrase when coming to life.
